GOLDEN CIRCLE

What is it?

The Golden Circle is a tool that summarizes the purpose (why?), the process (how?) and the results (what?) of the organization. It is generally represented by a figure with three overlapping circles (one inside the other), in which the central layer is the “why?”, in the middle layer the “how?” and on the outer layer the “what?”. In this way, the questions are answered starting from the central part of the circle until reaching its edges.

What is it for?

The tool is useful to provide clarity about the purpose (why?), discipline in the process (how?) and consistency in the results (what?) of the organization. The central idea is that the target is not the “what” (products/services), but rather the “why” (the organization’s purpose). Thus, from purpose come the processes that lead to results.

Complexity*: Low.
